Pediatric respiratory physiotherapy is hands-on chest care for children with bronchiolitis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, or recovery after surgery. Physiotherapy clears the airways using drainage positions, gentle percussion, and guided breathing, then sends a home routine so parents can keep the chest clear between visits.
Drainage positions paired with gentle percussion. Tuned to be comfortable for the child throughout.
Taught as a game for younger kids using bubbles, candles, or pinwheels to cue the breath.
A printed card with the day's sequence so both parents can run the same routine.
Physiotherapy delivers the hands-on airway clearance: drainage positions, gentle percussion, and breathing technique the child can repeat at home. It works to keep the chest clear and ease the work of breathing; it does not replace the medical treatment of the underlying condition.
Chest physiotherapy runs alongside the child's medical care, not in place of it. We coordinate with your treating paediatrician, follow their diagnosis and plan, and share notes on how the airway clearance is going. Diagnosis, medication, and decisions about the underlying condition stay with the doctor.
How our care network worksNo. The positions and percussion are tuned to stay comfortable through the whole session, and we stop and adjust if your child is unsettled. With younger ones we turn the breathing work into a game with bubbles or a pinwheel.
You will do most of it at home. We teach the routine in clinic, send you a printed card with the day's sequence so both parents run it the same way, and use visits to check technique and progress.
No. It runs alongside the doctor's plan. We follow their diagnosis, keep to the prescribed treatment, and share notes with them. Diagnosis and medication stay with the paediatrician.
